2013 RECITAL: FOR THE LOVE OF DANCE

For the last 19 years, San Clemente Dance and Performing Arts Center has provided students with an exciting performance experience through the June Recital. The recital is the annual staple of the Dance Program and conjures up images for many of childhood stage performances. It is one of the rites of passage for youngsters to shine in front of family and friends and to overcome their fears and nervousness. The recital offers our students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their family and friends the result of a year’s hard work and dedication.

A big part of the dance training process includes learning through performance. This experience helps build self-esteem, self-assurance and contributes to self confidence.  Although performance opportunities can help prepare some students for a career in dance, they also contribute to your child’s success in non-dance activities.  We have found that onstage experience results in better in-school presentations, improved social skills, and strong interview skills for future college and job opportunities. The rehearsal process is a tremendous learning experience as well. It helps the development of retention skills, and by working with classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working together as a team to create best end results.

Lastly, dedication to the recital commitment is the responsibility of both parents and students. Bringing the students to class weekly, hard work in class and practicing at home, staying up on all the recital news and information. We are excited you and your dancer are a part of the SCDPAC family.

This year’s Annual Recital will be held at the

Truax Theater in Oceanside on

Thursday & Saturday June 27 & 29, 2013

The Truax Theater at El Camino High School in Oceanside is a great facility and will provide more seating for family and friends that will be attending. This theater has auditorium seating and houses a beautiful lighting and sound system for professional performances. The dancers will have dressing rooms and back stage holding areas with TV’s broadcasting the performance.

Participation in the recital is not mandatory; however 95% of our dancers participated last year.   Each dancer will perform in one of the three shows.  Show assignments will be posted in June.  Some classes will perform in more than one recital and All Company dancers will perform in all three shows.  As we get closer to the recital, we will be handing out a full information packet with many of the recital details including photo information,DVDpurchase, t-shirts, flowers, rehearsals and costume details.
